The Tame Iti article in today’s Dominion (Sept 2) is a hoot - he insists that the charges against him be read out in Maori, then can’t follow what his interpreter is saying and looks over his shoulder to read what the charge sheet says in English. Not really a good way to promote Maori language use!

Just as we were preparing the chips, we heard that Winston had done all of the above and had had his chips too. It was a brilliant forecast that was only ten minutes off-target. At least Clark had the good sense to abandon all hope of abolishing the SFO and allow them to get to the bottom of all this.

Teachers or police officers under suspicion of serious wrongdoing are suspended immediately, regardless of whether they are likely to be cleared in the end. What’s different about our Foreign Minister, as if the entire country didn’t know already?

And right on cue, and just as forecast, the Winston First Party (opposed by 98 percent of the electorate) agreed to support the Emissions Trading Scheme legislation. The National Party declared its qualified position to not work with Peters. It should also be bold enough to declare that it will immediately scrap the scheme after taking power.

Following the latest revelations from another person who is too wealthy to be bribed, it’s clear that only two important people retain full confidence in Winston Peters. That is to say, Helen Clark and Winston Peters.

By an odd coincidence, a message arrived in the mailbox today, from one-man-band and “Minister for Almost Everything that the other Ministers aren’t”, Jim Anderton. On the back, it states that “We do not believe they [the newsletters] are election advertisements within the Electoral Finance Act.” Yeah right. Odd timing, Jim, and pure self-promotional material. This is the first such newsletter we’ve received from the Honourable Member, who is also – get this – the Minister Responsible for Public Trust.

When canvassed on the subject of binding referenda earlier this year, Jim Anderton’s response was interesting:

“Binding referenda on the other hand, reflect only the views of that portion of the electorate which chose to vote on a particular day, and how they were feeling at that time.”

My reply, part of which is quoted below, went unanswered, for some strange reason:

“Doesn’t our current triennial voting system also produce a result that reflects only the views of that portion of the electorate that chose to vote on that particular day, and how they were feeling at that time?”

But, sadly, it’s not over until the fat pornographer sings. Crow is threatening to bring his sad show to Wellington, the art and cultural capital of Wellington. The parade, he says, will feature a bare-breasted look-alike of Helen Clark. This, plus the threat of action from New Zealand’s hotbed of feminist power, represents a nightmare scenario. Crow would be ill-advised to mount any events on the Mainland, though. Christchurch has quite enough vice, and Dunedin is out of the question. The brainless university “elite” from Christchurch, who cannot wreck their own city, are intent on staging Undie 500. This involves transporting their furniture to chilly Dunedin, where they drunkenly burn it in the streets to keep warm. Brass monkeys such as Steve Crow should avoid the place. Meanwhile, there has been no comment from Prancing with the Stars Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt. If the tarts on carts arrived there, that would wipe the silly grin off his face. Or perhaps not…

In a week bursting at the seams with tits and bums (the tits on the pillions and the bums steering the bikes), genteel Wellington thrust forth with its answer to brash Auckland: Boobs on the Beat - a daring front-page Dominion Post expose of Police Inspector Karen Smith’s left mammary, as she breast-fed daughter Kobi at Wellington Central Nick. Inspector Smith clearly has a bright future as a motorcycle patrolwoman. But only in Auckland.

Right, that’s quite enough titillation for one week, lads.
